Welcome to the Sunhill Action Group website

Sunhill is located in a rural setting in the peaceful Cotswold countryside, surrounded by picturesque villages including Bibury, Quenington, Coln St Aldwyns, Meysey Hampton, Poulton and Ampney St Peter.

The Sunhill Action Group aims to protect the health and safety of people living and working in communities close to the proposed Sunhill kitchen waste site and from the associated impact of HGV traffic.

If you are concerned about how Gloucestershire are going to deal with your rubbish in the future then join the debate now. Go online to Recycle for Gloucestershire and fill in the questionaire.

HERE WE GO AGAIN!

ASC of Sunhill near Fairford - who for years have been producing mushroom compost and are now "temporarily" processing garden waste – have announced that they are about to submit a NEW planning application for the mass processing of KITCHEN WASTE collected from a wide area of the county and delivered to Sunhill by lorries.

This is despite the ruling earlier in 2006 by the Government's own Planning Inspectorate that completely REJECTED a similar application at Sunhill on appeal. We thought this legal ruling was the end of the matter - but it seems we were mistaken!

We are now alerting the community that we need to fight this new application. Only if local residents stand up and be counted, all over again, will we have any chance of defeating this new threat to the Cotswolds.

If you oppose environmentally unsustainable industrial development in our rural community ... if you don't want to see ANY extra lorries charging down our narrow, twisting local lanes or squeezing through the gaps in Fairford, Poulton and Lechlade ... support our renewed campaign NOW!

  • Contact your town or parish council to express your views about this development. Many local councils are backing our efforts!
  • Pledge your support to our campaign right now - moral, practical and financial - so that we can decide how best to fight these frightening new plans.
  • Thank you for caring about our community. Together, we can protect it.

  • Supports waste recycling near to the source of the waste
  • Supports home composting – for more information see: www.recyclenow.com/home_composting/index.html
  • Supports waste minimisation through reduced food packaging
  • We do not support large-scale waste processing in the wrong locations - i.e. miles away from main roads - resulting in more large vehicles using poor visibility single-track roads connecting Cotswolds villages, endangering car users, cyclists, pedestrians and dog walkers.
